Blankets for Norwich Come in from Surrounding TownsAugust 17, 2009: The response for blankets continues to be nothing short of remarkable! We ran out of time on Saturday to process all of the blankets and the current count is just shy of 200 with two weeks to go! We'll continue to collect blankets through the last Saturday in August at the Leffingwell House Museum. People in other towns are gathering blankets from their neighbors and friends so they can deliver a bunch one trip. Milt Bruckner offered to pick up any blankets in Waterford for people who can't make the drive. People have offered to do some of the sewing in their own homes as they can't make it on Saturday afternoons. Liberty Bank in Norwich has set up a box for blankets in their lobby and asked their customers and employees to donate. The number and items being left specifically for the animal shelters is jaw dropping, heartwarming and so very inspiring! At the current rate of donation we'll have enough to share with other towns and sanctuaries. If I was not personally involved in this, I would never believe that people in Norwich and the area had such heart and depth of care about their neighbors. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you all for getting behind this project and making it your own. The new and gently used blanket drive continues every Saturday through August at the Leffingwell House Museum, 348 Washington Street, Norwich, CT. Won't you help keep someone warm this winter?
