President's Annual Report 2008-2009
We are sorry to announce the passing of Ann-etta Cannon, our president, on April 19, 2009. Ann was a director of the Society of the Founders of Norwich and the programs at the Leffingwell House Museum. For over 20 years Ann actively supported programs at the Inn, often dressed in a period costume that she made. Her greatest pleasure was reading to the children at the Inn during the holidays.
She was always concerned that the museum and its contents be preserved and presented to the public in the best light.
When it was too cold for the board meetings to be held at the museum, Ann held the meetings at her home and always provided us with delicious samples of her baking. My job as treasurer and receiver of the mail meant bringing her the record of various donations to be acknowledged. If you were the recipient of her 'thank you notes' you know of her dedication and love of the Society and our Museum.
Ann is remembered by the community as proactive supporter of reading in the Preston School system and the establishment of the Preston Read-a-thon.
She will be sorely missed, but in her honor we will continue to strive to make the Leffingwell House Museum an important part of the Norwich community.
Ann-etta Cannon, Thank you.
