2007 Appeal to Members

The Society of the Founders own and operate the Leffingwell House Museum. This year the museum has been actively trying to increase revenues to pay for the increases in the operational costs of fuel for heat, maintenance and repairs to the house and displays through special exhibits, programs, events and fundraisers.

We need your active participation to achieve our goals.

Help Keep the Museum Open to Visitors

The Society of the Founders and the museum need new docents, hosts and guides. You don't have to know everything about the house, its history or the colonial period. We provide training for new docents and guides. Only requirement is time to be a friendly host for visitors - and a smile!

Support the Museum's Events

We need you to come to our events.
Tell your friends & family - better yet, bring them.

We need you to buy tickets, pay admission and encourage people who are leading and participating in our events.

We need sponsors to cover the costs of copying and mailing, advertising in the newspaper and on the radio. (Sending invitations in the mail depletes urgently needed funds).

We need designated event sponsors for programs like the summer Saturday Afternoon programs. These events will have a fee because we were not able to secure a sponsor for the materials and basic refreshments that we serve our guests and participants.

Help Keep Our Museum Grounds Beautiful

The museum is participating in Norwich in Bloom.

Will you help us by picking up the trash that blows onto the lawn from Washington Street and the highway?
Will you help us by weeding the gardens? Dead-heading the flowers?
Do you have extra herbs we could add to the dried herb display in the colonial kitchen?
Will you help provide needed pebbles for the walkways?
Or clean soil and mulch for the gardens? A few flat stepping stones?

Support Your Museum

The electrical circuitry, wiring and lighting has become a critical concern this past year. There was a repair to the roof and another is needed to prevent further damage. The cellar display area wall needs attention to prevent deterioration.

Will you help preserve the history of Norwich and the colonial period?
Is there an exhibit you would like to see?
Are you friendly with a radio personality who might be interested in mentioning the events and the exhibits at the museum on the radio?
Are you a writer who would like to write press releases for the museum or the Society?
