Summer 2009: Press Release
Owen Tavares, Contributing Reporter

Robin Tavares is the new treasurer of the Society of the Founders. She is 31 years old. Robin works for Eastern Federal Bank in Norwich CT. She is married with two sons Owen (me), 11, and Derek 21 months. Her family lives in Norwich.

Robin got involved with the Leffingwell Inn a few years ago. She grew up in Preston with the Cannon family.

When she attended the Millennium Fundraiser a few years ago and saw the Cannons there. When she returned to the Leffingwell Inn with her son, Mrs. Cannon asked her to be a manager on the Society of the Founders.

Robin joined because the Society of the Founders runs the Leffingwell Inn entirely by volunteers. When she was asked she was quick to join to try to help out in any way possible. She thinks the museum is a great treasure of Norwich's history. Robin finds the examples of crafts and stories of the people who founded Norwich interesting. She thinks it feels great to be a part of the Society of the Founders and their work to preserve Norwich's history. She said, "It's nice to see all of the work the SOF has done in the past one hundred plus years".

Robin likes discovering things the SOF created like the plaque on the Norwichtown Green and the monument in Greeneville showing where George Washington took the ferry in order to get to Newport, RI.
